Phase I. – Getting Started: Physical sobriety
- Remove all mind-altering substances and maintain a drug/alcohol free environment
- Develop a daily routine with the intention of promoting mental and physical well being
- Participate in household responsibilities
- Begin involvement in 12-step programs
- Participate in group and individual psychotherapy
- Begin daily goal setting
- Participate in community service activities


Phase II – Emotional Sobriety
- Examine dysfunctional behaviors and their impact on life
- Begin to mend relationships
- Set concrete goals around employment, education, exercise
Phase III – Maintenance
- Consistently fulfill responsibilities and obligations
- Work with newcomers and take on a leadership role in recovery
- Develop a concrete aftercare plan
- Develop a solid relapse prevention plan
